About Anemone

Hi there and welcome! I’m Jessica Petty Smith, founder & lead designer at Anemone Chicago which I launched in 2011. I can’t believe 2026 will be our 15th wedding season!

As a company, our motto is “creating joy through beauty”. Anemone’s eco-conscious, full service floral and event design studio is located on the northwest side of Chicago, Illinois. Our business focus is customized and intimate, serving private and corporate events of all sizes with a focus on sustainability. We want your event to be as unique as you are. Every. Single. Time.

Before I fell hard for the event industry, I had immersed myself in art at Columbia Chicago and completed my MA in Art History . Though I will always love and be inspired by visual art (and teaching it), I am in my happiest place creating. When I’m not at the studio, I like to be with my people, experiment with new recipes (NYT Cooking is my current go to), disappear into a book (two book clubs keep me reading), and embrace the occasional lazy Sunday morning coffee in my bed with my labradoodles. For over a decade, I built this business by also teaching art history courses for City Colleges of Chicago. I stepped down in 2020 to run Anemone and flower 100% and couldn’t be happier.

I am a lifelong Chicago resident, artist, business owner, partner to an incredibly supportive spouse, human mom to two amazing kids and dog mom to two adorable mini labradoodles.

I can’t wait to meet you and hear your story.

All of our proposals are developed after discussing your specific needs. We can offer some idea of cost and have a full service wedding minimum of $7,000 (*includes day of service and end of night strike), but there are many factors that impact event costs. Don't worry, we can usually do amazing things on just about any budget.

Do you have set of packages I can choose from?
Our preference is to have our events totally custom, no matter how big or small. We’ve found this is what makes our clients happiest. I

Is my event too small?
Nope. We do all sizes of events. If you're looking for flowers for that baby shower or a cocktail party, you've come to the right place.

Do you have a storefront?
We do not have a retail store, but we do have a studio located at 5483 N. Northwest Highway. You are welcome to set up an appointment to visit us.

Can I order flowers for a holiday like mother's day, valentines day or a school dance? Yes, please give us at least 72 hours and order via email or call 872.222.7208. We don't stock our studio for retail walk-ins, but if we have booked events that coincide with your request and/or advance notice, we can set you up. If we aren’t able to fulfill your order, we will refer you to another local floral company.

We live somewhere else but our wedding is in Chicago, can this work? Yes. We've done it several times. Zoom, Google Meet & Facetime are all great for remote wedding planning.

Are you available for destination weddings? We often travel for weddings so your event need not be in Chicago. We’ve worked across the US including New York, California, Wisconsin & Indiana and are also available for international events.
